Definition of Vegetarian and Vegetarian Type

The word vegetarian comes from another Language “vegetus” which means “strong, active, and passionate”. The notion of vegetarianism is a person who for religious or health reasons only eats vegetables and herbs. Common vegetarian understanding is people who do not consume all animal meat, beef, goat, chicken, fish, or other animals. Vegetarians eat only vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and other plant-based ingredients. The vegetarian group called pure vegetarian. In addition to pure vegetarians, there are lacto-ovo vegetarian groups (vegetarians who still consume animal milk and eggs) and lacto vegetarian groups (vegetarians who still consume animal milk).

The Definition of Vegetarian

The term vegetarian first coined in 1847, and was formally adopted on September, 1847 by Joseph Brotherton, colleagues in Northwood Villa, Kent, England. It was an inaugural meeting of the British Vegetarian Society. Before 1847, the meat-eating group was commonly known as Pytagorean or following the system. This is in keeping with Pythagoras, a vegetarian from ancient Greece. Similarly, Hinduism and Buddhism that forbids his people to kill animals.

There are several types of vegetarians date. The division of this type of vegetarian is based on the way or pattern of vegetarian practitioners in living their vegetarian activities. Here are the types of vegetarians:

Vegan: A pure vegetarian that consumes only whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruits.

Lacto Vegetarian: A vegetarian that consumes plant foods and abstinence from livestock, poultry, fish and eggs and its processed products. This group still consume milk, cheese and yogurt products .

Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian: The type of vegetarian who consumes plant-based ingredients and does not consume livestock meat, poultry, and fish. This group still allowed consume eggs, milk and dairy products.

Healthy Vegetarian Diets

Vegetarians generally understood as a diet and does not eat meat. However, in fact there are still groups of vegetarians who still consume some types of meat or animal processed products. In order to keep the vegetarian diet healthy, it’s good if still pay attention to the balance of nutritional content in it, according to the physical condition of each individual.

The reason someone becomes vegetarian is very diverse, some of them because of health factors.
